This Canada Goose is hilarious. I can’t tell if it’s washing its tail feathers or looking at something on the boardwalk really closely.

I’m not a hardcore birder. I like it when birds land in my garden and I like the kind of birding where I go for a walk and see the birds that think my garden is too far away. I guess you could call it passive birding.

There are some pretty cool ones around Windsor-Essex County, but actually, if you look at any insect closely, their bodies are incredible. And they’re real, not science fiction.

Birdering

Some people go to the woods to see the birds. Others go to see the birders.

This group of birders was spotted in Point Pelee National Park in May 2003. Birder-watching continues to be popular this time of year. Birders are commonly found in Southwestern Ontario parks, where their main attraction, the migrating birds, are returning from their winter homes.

I bought more sparklers! Now I just need to wait for dark on a night that’s not a school night, so I can go out and take more light painting pictures like this old one from 2005. This photo was taken on Windsor’s West Side.

Phlox

Are you convinced yet that spring is here? If not, you haven’t been outside enough. Besides all the rain we’re getting, the phlox is in bloom and that’s a sure sign of spring.

I think this variety is candytuft but I’m not positive. I planted some last year and I love how quickly it fills in and how full it looks. I also like the pale purple variety although I have no idea what it’s called.

Welcome to another Feline Friday at BlogWindsor.com. This cat is trying out for the part of “front porch lion” and I think it’s got what it takes!

I would totally trust this cat to watch out for villains. This one would be better than a concrete lion too because if there was danger it could meow and chase the baddies away.

Rose

Someone told me that Windsor was labeled the “Rose City” because of a donation of rose plants. What would we be called if the donation had been sausages, dog collars, or fly-traps? Or what if they’d said thank you, planted the roses and then the citizens picked a native plant to identify with or developed leadership in technology? entertainment? industry? environmentalism? and became a “City of Something” because of excellence and an earned reputation?
