I missed the Harrow Fair this year but I’m glad that Groovy Holly had a chance to go. These carefree legs shine happiness, freedom, fun…everything that summer should be.

In the past, when I’ve been to the Harrow Fair, I especially like to see the art, craft, and baking entries in the fair’s competitions and all the family members out there supporting each other.

The interesting thing is that sometimes we call these “drips” and they annoy us like crazy – like when they’re dripping from a leaky faucet. Sometimes thought, the last drop is exactly what we need – like the last drop in the bottom of a water bottle on a hot summer day. Or sometimes we throw a few splashes on our faces to freshen up or wake up when we’re dozy.

Water’s a pretty versatile element when it comes right down to it.

This is a trip down memory lane for me. I took this photo on Pelee Island in early summer, when I was there doing research for an oral history project.

I wish I had more time to spend on Pelee. I’d live there in a heartbeat if I could organize my life to make it possible. It’s definitely on my someday maybe list.

I have a thing for sticks, especially driftwood. I like the feel, the smell (unless it’s like, dead fish or something). I like the beach and that what it reminds me of. I also like the aged, distressed look – it’s kind of like me.

Demo. As in demolition. The decline in popularity of the R.C. church can be measured in the number of churches facing the wrecking ball in Windsor. It’s too bad that communities cannot adopt these buildings as neighbourhood centres. This one was at the corner of Grand Marais and Dominion. A park with trees and benches welcoming to all would be a nice replacement.
