Getting Out

It’s getting cool but there’s still time to get outside for a walk, jog, or run. Dress in layers then you can peel them off as you warm up. It’s worth it for the fresh-ish air before winter comes and we’re shut in.

Mastronardi Estate Winery

Second stop on Saturday’s Wine Trail Ride with WindsorEats was a stop at Mastronardi Estate Winery. Here we saw more vines, learned about how they keep things warm in the winter, and saw the red grapes changing colour from green to red.

August Wine Trail Ride

This past weekend I headed out with the WindsorEats gang for a 25km Wine Trail Ride through Ruthven and Kingsville to check out three local wineries for tours and samples. We finished the ride here at Aleksander Estate Winery for more wine and a fabulous barbecue of local foods all grown within ten minutes of the winery.

Water Sport

If you try this out on the Detroit River you need to watch out for freighters. The river can get pretty busy and the big ships cannot manouver around you (if they even see you). That said, the best way to play in the river is to stay above it — even with the work of the Detroit River Cleanup it’s still awfully polluted.

Moon in June

The Moon in June road race was held last Saturday night, June 14, 2008. Hoards of runners competed in the kids dash (200m), the kids 1km, and the adult/kids 5km and 10km races.

Highland

Anyone that’s known me very long knows what a dance junky I am. This past Saturday, June 14, Fort Malden in Amherstburg was host to the 2008 Summer Highland Dancing Competition.
