I’m getting to know Windsor photographers and their subjects! I saw this one in a random search for windsor + ontario + bird and I recognized Leelo right off the bat!

Enjoy this last weekend of the summer. The weather’s getting cool but it’s not too late to go for a stroll by the riverfront or in your own backyard. It’s worth it.

Getting Out

It’s getting cool but there’s still time to get outside for a walk, jog, or run. Dress in layers then you can peel them off as you warm up. It’s worth it for the fresh-ish air before winter comes and we’re shut in.

This photo taken down at Windsor’s riverfront totally reminds me of the scene in the Karate Kid where Ralph Macchio is trying to balance doing high kicks on an old stump. Of course there’s no perfect line in that scene compared to the one where old Mr. Miyagi gets Ralph to polish all the old cars…

Water Sport

If you try this out on the Detroit River you need to watch out for freighters. The river can get pretty busy and the big ships cannot manouver around you (if they even see you). That said, the best way to play in the river is to stay above it — even with the work of the Detroit River Cleanup it’s still awfully polluted.

HDR Elephant

This elephant elephant is out for a stroll in Windsor’s Sculpture Garden along Riverside Drive. The photo was processed using HDR imaging (High Dynamic Range) to give it the extra funky lighting effects. There’s more about the process on Wikipedia.

Windsor has some great trails: down along the riverfront is the sculpture garden trail and out on the east side is the Ganatchio Trail, also following the river but on the opposite side of the road. Look for a park in your neighbourhood with this City of Windsor Park Finder website.

A Bicycle Built of Wood

Finally Spring

I guess it’s finally spring. The trees have buds and some even have flowers. The phlox on the south side of the house is also in bloom.
