Last night, February 20th, 2008, a lunar eclipse was visible to nearly a billion people in the Western Hemisphere, more than 1.5 billion in Europe and Africa, and about another half-billion in western Asia.

The skies were clear here making the show a great one for Windsorites. It was very cool (and literally icy cold) standing outside in pajamas watching the progress.

It has a large collection of artifacts from the past and historical re-enactors bring the past to life during special events at the Fort. At night, the statues come alive…

Among other things, Amherstburg, Ontario is home to historic Fort Malden. Located on the Detroit River, southwest of Windsor, and near the mouth of Lake Erie, the Fort was a significant site in both the War of 1812 and the Rebellion of 1837. The downtown (as quiet as it is here) is another source of history, seen in its architecture and preserved in its museums.
