As many times as I’ve been to Pelee Island there was something last trip that I don’t remember ever seeing before: all these caged-up sunflowers. They’re purpose, as far as I can tell, is to make hiding places and shade (and seeds?) for the pheasants that are bred here for the Island’s autumn pheasant hunt.

I love fields of sunflowers. It was a very cool surprise that day, cutting across the middle of the Island.
