It might be hard to believe since it’s March and there’s snow everywhere, but it completely possible to maintain an outdoor cactus garden in Windsor and Essex County.

Ouch! , originally uploaded by PhotoDocGVSU.
I can’t tell if this photo is indoors or out but I know I have seen outdoor garden beds full of cactii, especially in Leamington. I even once saw a child tumble into one — and wow, did she holler!

That cactus photo was taken indoors at Colassanti’s … however, it certainly is possible to grow cacti outdoors in this climate. There are a bunch of them growing wild out in the woods here, even though they get buried in snow every year.

I’m pretty sure its March, not February
Yeah, my neighbour used to have cactus outside in her garden and she used to complain that “damn thing just grows all over, and she doesn’t know what to do with it anymore?”

Oops, right. February. I don’t know if that makes me feel better — or worse — about the continuing winter!
