Personal Rink Time

You just can’t do this like we used to. When I was little there were lots of backyard rinks like this one. We’d get it started before the holiday school break and it would last all winter long.

We would also go skating on the Puce and Belle Rivers. I drove by both this weekend and both are completely open.

We’ll have to keep our skating for the rinks or head north!

Some of my happiest childhood memories were of skating at a neighbour’s backyard where they had done just that - created a homemade skating rink. Whoever does that these days? We do get periods of sustained sub-freeze weather to do it, contrary to popular belief. It is doable. Blame it on the Wii. ;)
