Goose Bay Park

It’s time to migrate. Lately I’ve been seeing flocks of Canadian geese flying overhead in V-shapes. This photo was taken at Goose Bay Park on Windsor’s riverfront, just west of Pillette Road.

There are often a few geese that stay behind — here at this park and elsewhere. It’s not as cold as it used to be I guess.

I used to live near Goose Bay Park and was named Goose Bay for a reason. However, the park did not always look like this. The stones were added to provide a refuge and to make it even more habitable for our feathered friends. I think the fact that Windsor residents think of making eco-freindly green (and blue) spaces is a credit to this great city!

I remember when the stones were added. I wonder if they help with erosion at all?

I agree about how the riverfront it developing into a place to walk, sit, listen and talk. It gives me a chance to get my feet off the concrete, something we don’t get to do often enough.
