Summer’s not quite over so there’s still some park time left for the kids. I remember when I used to chase my daughter around the playground equipment. She wanted to try everything, climb everything, jump off everything and I was just a few steps behind, not to interfere but to encourage and guide if she got stuck.

As they get older it gets harder to do that. They don’t go with you to the park anymore, they want to be out on their own, calculating their own risks. We just have to hope that the park lessons have stuck with them.
