Fishy bug

July 19th, 2007 · No Comments

In the early summer each year, Windsor and Essex County gets flooded with these little creatures. They are known by many names including Mayflies, Junebugs, fishflies, shadflies — and gross. I’ve never been really bothered by them — when I was a kid the entire house would be covered by them. They’d come in one night while we were sleeping and the next morning they’d be everywhere. They’d last a week or two and then they’d be gone for another year. In Belle River, Ontario, they’d go by in the morning and sweep the street of them. There’d be so many collected, especially under the street lights that you could hear the cars go crunch. That part was gross.
