Blog Windsor

We’re surrounded by water: Lake St. Clair to the north and northeast, the Detroit River north and northwest of that and then Lake Erie on the west and south. With this much water there is always lots of boating going on. Have a look:

I hope they’re having fun here — this doesn’t appeal to me but I know some people get a thrill from that “doomed to die” sensation.

Out and about looking for trouble is the Windsor Police boat, seen on the Detroit River:

Heading down to Leamington, this is the Leamington Marina:

Over to Pelee Island for a peek through the scrubs at the M.V. Jiimaan getting ready to head back to the Ontario mainland. For part of the summer it docks in Leamington, the other half it sails from Kingsville:

These boaters are done for the day and have beached their vessel on the sandy shores of Pelee Island. The sand burns your feet when you step out of the boat, usually because there’s a bit of a puddle in the bottom and it keeps your feet cool while you’re out on the water. I spent quite a bit of time rowing along Pelee’s east beach shore when I was a kid. I love this picture for bringing it all back.
