Point Pelee National Park is the very very very tip of Canada’s mainland which juts out into Lake Erie (in different shapes and sizes, depending on waves and wind). It’s a great place for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, cycling, hiking, birding, butterfly-ing, playing in the sand, etc, etc, etc. It’s about one hour’s south drive from Windsor and the nearest town is Leamington, Ontario.
A lot of people come for this: the gorgeous clear water and sandy beaches:

If you stay long enough you get to see the incredible sunsets. The swimming beaches give a great view to the west. This is a zoom to Leamington harbour, not far from the park:

It isn’t always crystal flat water. We get wavy days too:

The beach on the other side is a bit different — marshland. If you climb up this tower:

Hiking is good around the boardwalk (accessible too) or else you can stroll down to the tip of the point (accessible up to the part that changes depending on the wind):

And because this is a view you don’t get everyday:

Hope you enjoyed today’s trip to Point Pelee National Park. Pack a picnic and some sunscreen, head out and take some more great shots. Watch for another Point Pelee post in the future. There are so many great pictures of the park I’ve saved the creature pics for another day.

I was born in Windsor and lived there until I was ten, thus my Internet name “windsorschild”. I always enjoy things about Windsor. I will add this to my favorites and check back frequently.
